Mandi flashfloods toll 11 & 34 missing; properties worth ₹371 cr damaged

WITH the recovery of six more bodies, the death toll from the three flashfloods, triggered by 16 cloudbursts in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, rose to 11 on Wednesday, even as the rescue and search operations continue for the 34 missing people.

So far, at least 206 people have been evacuated from affected areas in the Mandi, Chamba and Hamirpur districts. The total estimated damage to the property in the state is being pegged at ₹371.42 crore.

Reports say, two bodies were recovered in Siyanj and Gohar, while one body each was found in Thunag, Dhar Jarol, and Pandeev Sheel areas. The identities of the deceased are being ascertained.
