Festive demand pushes GST collection up 9% to ₹1.89 lakh crore in Sept

INDIA'S GOODS and Services Tax (GST) collections rose 9.1% in September to ₹1.89 lakh crore, compared with ₹1.86 lakh crore in August, boosted by the rollout of GST 2.0 reforms and festive season demand.
According to Finance Ministry data released on Wednesday, the mop-up comprised ₹33,645 crore from Central GST (CGST), ₹41,836 crore from State GST (SGST), ₹1,01,883 crore from Integrated GST (IGST), and ₹11,652 crore from cess. With compensation cess now restricted to sin goods under GST 2.0, cess collections slipped marginally from ₹11,941 crore in September 2024.
