History against Gill & Co as they look to bounce back after loss

- FIROZ MIRZA @ Chennai

THE five-match Test series in England was never going to be easy and Shubman Gill and Co knew it even before they boarded the flight for Old Blighty. After the first four days of the opening Test in Leeds, India were in good position, to say the least. On the last day, though, the complexion of the game changed with the hosts chasing down the target of 371. To many, it was an opportunity lost for the young Indian side and rightly so as two of the next three venues — Edgbaston in Birmingham and Old Trafford in Manchester — have never been conquered by them since 1967 and 1936 respectively.
