BJP single largest party as MahaYuti sweeps local polls

THE BJP on Sunday emerged as the single-largest party in Maharashtra urban local body polls, winning 129 Nagar Parishads out of 288.
It also won a majority of municipal councilor seats across the state.According to the latest results, the Maha Yuti has consolidated its dominance. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar-led NCP secured 51 and 32 Nagar Parishads, respectively. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) put up a weak show, with Congress winning 35 Nagar Parishads, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena nine and Sharad Pawar-led NCP eight. Smaller parties and independents won 24 Nagar Parishads. The BJP dominated the directly elected president posts of Nagar Parishads, winning 117 positions. It
