Biden to speak on first convention, leave day of

THE Democratic National Convention kicked off on Monday in Chicago, just four weeks after President Joe Biden shuttered his campaign and made way for Vice President Kamala Harris to ascend to the top of Democrats' ticket.

The political transformation just months before the election matchup with the Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump, has meant a rapid succession of changes for Democrats' 2024 calculus in general making the convention all the more noteworthy.
Now, Biden will give a speech on the convention's opening night of Monday, as will his wife, Jill Biden.
Officials say Biden isn't planning to be in Chicago past his own appearance.

Odisha tiger population likely to go up: PCCF
ODISHA’S big cat numbers seem to be ona rise with the ongoing All India Tiger Estimate (AITE) 2026 exercise identifying 32 unique individual tigers in Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) this year. PCCF (wildlife) Prem Kumar Jha said on Tuesday that Similipal has recorded a rise in its tiger count since the previous AITE exercise in 2022 in which the tiger population in the state was pegged at 20.
