BFI chief urges women boxers to play nationals

IN the middle of the tussle between the Boxing Federation of India president, secretary-general and treasurer, the senior women nationals to be held in Greater Noida from March 21 to 27 is getting affected.

There is confusion and uncertainty after a section of the affiliated state units decided to stay away from it because of the election that is to be held on March 28.
Things became more intriguing after BFI chief Ajay Singh suspended the secretary-general and the treasurer. This has created more rift within the federation and hectic parleys are going on in the sidelines.
On top of this, the Delhi High Court order to set aside a letter issued by Singh that barred non-elected members to be part of the Electoral College has changed the dynamics.
Since this could lead to former sports minister Anurag Thakur's name to be included in the Electoral College, those supporting him have suddenly found steam.
