When a community rises with grit and determination, nothing is beyond its reach. Silluk village in East Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh is a glaring example. Once labelled the dirtiest village in the district, it has now become a national model of cleanliness through innovative waste management and environmental practices.
The village's inspiring transformation has been recognised by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), which has featured Silluk in a Class 3 environmental studies textbook in a chapter titled 'Taking Charge of Waste'.
