₹4L cr outlay in Siddu's 16th Budget

CHIEF Minister Siddaramaiah, who also holds the finance portfolio, on Friday presented a ₹19,262-crore revenue-deficit Karnataka Budget for 2025-26 with a total outlay of ₹4,09,549 crore against a revised estimate of ₹3,65,865 crore for 2024-25.

Siddaramaiah, who presented a record 16th budget as finance minister, attempted to strike a balance between social welfare schemes and infrastructure development, while sticking to fiscal discipline.

The experiment with allocating over one-fourth of the outlay for social welfare schemes prevailed with a major chunk of ₹51,034 crore earmarked for the guarantee schemes, as against ₹52,000 crore in 2024-25.
