Sentencing proceedings to commence in Joshlin Smith case

THE three convicted in the case of the disappearance of six-year-old Joshlin Smith, will know their fate this week.
The sentencing proceedings for Jac-quen Appollis, Steveno van Rhyn, and Joshlin’s mother Racquel “Kelly” Smith is set to take place over three days.
The Western Cape High Court will once again sit at the White City Multipurpose Centre in Diazville for the matter.
The proceedings are scheduled to get underway tomorrow with the sentences expected to be handed down on Thursday.
Judge Nathan Erasmus transferred the matter back to Saldanha and the accused were transferred to Langebaan and Malmesbury holding cells until this week.
The transfers followed a brief high court appearance by the accused on Friday, where Judge Erasmus criticised police after the matter was delayed by an hour due to logistical reasons.
