Alleged baby snatcher seeks to visit son
The Mercury
|October 23, 2025
ALLEGED baby snatcher Sameemah Jacobs has asked the court for permission to visit her son in Mitchell's Plain and to collect her belongings from a residence in the area.
She has also made a request to report to the Delft police station in terms of her bail conditions.
Jacobs is charged with kidnapping infant Imaad Sharmar from his mother, Imaan Sharmar, at Middestad Mall in Bellville under the pretence that she was a volunteer for an NPO.
Jacobs, who appeared in the Bellville Magistrates’ Court this week, told the magistrate that her legal aid lawyer had not given her the opportunity to speak after she raised her hand to request permission to address the court.
She said she had made a new affidavit, requesting an amendment to her bail conditions, which currently forbid her from visiting Mitchell's Plain and Strandfontein. She also has to report at Kleinvlei Police Station three times a week.
