Addressing key narratives in the information war
The Mercury
|October 01, 2025
THE exchanges between myself and Dr Mahmoud Baker exemplify the extent to which the issues of our time are subject to an information war in which truth is the casualty of fallacy.
-
Thanks to the vast, established network of the mainstream media, set views on various subjects have become holy writ.
Challenges to them are dismissed as lies or hoaxes. Since the majority of scientists or commentators endorse the prevailing narrative, then it is unquestionably accepted. Fortunately, history shows that truth does triumph over false narratives.
In the 17th century Italian physicist Galileo survived house arrest and banishment by the Catholic Church for refusing to recant the correctness of his finding that the sun is the centre of our universe, not the earth.
For 70 years the people of Russia were compelled to accept the dictates of the Communist Party on all subjects. Their liberation after 1991 exposed the lies and hoaxes they were forced to endure.
