Youngster thanks club as he exits

DEPARTING Newcastle United star Jay Turner-Cooke has paid tribute to the club as his four-year stint on Tyneside comes to an end.

The midfielder, who was called upon by Eddie Howe in friendly games for the first team, is one of six Academy stars bidding farewell to the Magpies.

Friday's announcement confirmed the news Turner-Cooke, Ellis Stanton, James Huntley, Josh Donaldson and Harry and Rory Powell would all be leaving Newcastle when their contracts expire in the coming weeks. Of the released youngsters, Turner-Cooke was by far the most established young talent who, at one stage, looked as though he may be in Howe's plans.
