WORKERS at a chemicals firm whose parent company this week went into administration are "very concerned about their futures", unions say.

- BY GRAEME WHITFIELD

Venator Materials plc - which has sites on Teesside and Tyneside, as well as plants overseas - appointed professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal as administrators earlier this week.

The firm is the overall holding company for the Venator Group, which makes titanium dioxide and performance additives for use in paint, plastics and other materials.

Venator's North East operations are trading as normal while a buyer is sought for them.

The group has 519 employees in the UK and 2,249 globally.

Venator has been struggling for a number of years, and went into Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection proceedings in the US in 2023.
