Victims of violent crime and stalking to get better support
The Journal
|October 09, 2025
THE Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) has launched a new scheme to help support victims of crime. Susan Dungworth has introduced the 2026 to 2029 funding, giving local services the stability they need to provide better victim support.
Northumbria PCC Susan Dungworth joined by MP Alex Davies-Jones and Northumbria Police ACC Alastair Simpson
Backed financially by the Government's Ministry of Justice and Violence Against Women and Girls programmes, the Supporting Victims Programme will channel money into areas of priority. It will cover emotional, practical and therapeutic support to victims of crime and advocacy services.
The PCC hopes that the new fund, which closes on November 16, can help reduce waiting times, easing pressures on frontline services, and ensuring help is available when people need it most.
Enquiries carried out extensive victim needs assessments, service reviews and victim surveys to identify local priorities.
