|May 12, 2025
NEWCASTLE University is set to axe another 38 jobs as part of major budget cuts brought on by declining international student numbers.
-
So far 257 former members of staff have decide to leave the university through voluntary severance. However, the move has left the University and College Union up in arms, claiming the cuts could damage the reputation of the university.
David Bates, Secretary of Newcastle University UCU, said: "This news will come as a devastating blow to our hard-working members. Already we have spoken to staff who are in tears about potentially losing their job. We will not give up the fight: an injury to one is an injury to all."
