Tough tie in Cup but we can't complain, says McDonald

DUNSTON UTS manager Jon McDonald has admitted he can’t complain about his side being handed a home tie against Gainsborough Trinity in the FA Cup third qualifying round draw.

After seeing off Northern League duo Thornaby and Kendal Town to reach the second qualifying round, McDonald's men picked up their most satisfying win of their run so far at the weekend as they beat Stocksbridge Park Steels at the UTS Stadium.

Just four months have passed since the Steels pipped Dunston to promotion into the Northern Premier League Premier Division with a penalty shootout win in the East Division playoff final.

But there was to be no mistake this time around from McDonald and his players as a last-gasp Will Shaw goal was enough to claim the win for Dunston and set up another home clash with a step three side later this month.
