School redevelopment would 'boost the city'

PLANS for the redevelopment and reconstruction of a secondary school in Sunderland have been formally submitted to city planning chiefs, with the public being invited to voice their opinions.

Sunderland City Council’s planning department has received a proposal for the demolition of several school buildings and the construction of new facilities at Thornhill Academy.

This includes “the erection of a new three-storey teaching block and a swimming pool facility, along with refurbishments to the existing sports hall and provision of external sports facilities and a new sports pitch.”
