EIGHT men have been arrested following reports of a disturbance in Newcastle city centre.

Police swarm in as brawl breaks out

Police incident on Barrack Road in Newcastle City Centre

Shortly after 6am yesterday Northumbria Police were called to Barrack Road, where it was reported that a group of men had been involved in an altercation.

It was then reported that a man in his 20s had been struck by a vehicle heading southbound on the road.

Paramedics attended and the man was taken to hospital with injuries which are not believed to be serious.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to assist with enquiries.
