Nurses in Everest trek help raise £65k for charity
The Journal

RED Sky Foundation is celebrating the incredible achievement of its Everest 2025 trekking team, who have successfully completed their journey to Mount Everest Base Camp and returned home having raised an outstanding £64,500 to support the charity's lifesaving cardiac projects.
> The expedition group on their way up
The team of dedicated supporters self-funded their entire expedition, ensuring that every penny donated goes directly toward helping babies, children and adults living with heart conditions.
Eleven people, four women, seven men, including two nurses from Newcastle's Freeman Hospital, came together as a team, supporting one another and staying motivated, focused and engaged as they helped raise awareness and vital funds.
Their route took them from Lukla through remote Sherpa villages, across dramatic Himalayan terrain and onward to Everest Base Camp, where they proudly flew the flag for Red Sky Foundation against the backdrop of the world's highest peak. This remarkable fundraising total will help the charity provide vital cardiac equipment, specialist care, community defibrillators and support for families across the region and beyond.
