Number of defeats not acceptable - Magnay
The Journal
|April 28, 2025
GATESHEAD manager Carl Magnay insisted he will “never give in” as his side prepare for a date with destiny in their National League play-off bid.
-
The Heed fell to yet another defeat on Saturday as they emerged empty-handed from their visit to inform Boston United and results elsewhere meant Magnay’s men slipped out of the top seven for the first time this season.
The hosts took the lead with ten minutes on the clock as Keaton Ward marked his 100th appearance for the club with a powerful finish to set off celebrations from the vast majority of the 3,400 in attendance.
The Heed reacted well to get back on level-terms on the quarter-hour mark with an equaliser from Luke Hannant - but Boston restored their lead ten minutes before half-time as James Gale beat the offside trap and Gateshead keeper George Shelvey.
