Magpies' Eddie set to be granted freedom of city

EDDIE Howe is set to be officially granted the Freedom of Newcastle next week.
It was announced in March that the Newcastle United manager was in line for the city's highest civic honour after leading the Magpies to their first domestic trophy in 70 years, with the historic Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool. A vote has now been scheduled for Wednesday, May 28, for councillors to officially confirm the award.
The NUFC boss is not expected to be in attendance at the Civic Centre for the meeting, with the local authority saying it hopes to organise a separate event to present him with the honour. The 47-year-old is set to join such legendary Newcastle footballing figures as Sir Bobby Robson, Jackie Milburn, and Alan Shearer in being granted the freedom of the city.
