NEWCASTLE United are staying cool after weekend leaks that linked Anthony Gordon with Liverpool with a £100m fee mooted.

Sources at United have suggested that no indication of a possible sale for the England international has come internally, while Liverpool have been watertight with their business so far. However, Newcastle won't entertain any knockdown offers for any of their players given the big hope is to retain their stars this summer amid a tricky PSR situation.

The Magpies do have more room to manoeuvre in the window, and there is cash to spend, but Eddie Howe will be working with a set budget.

Newcastle are hoping to present a tidy set of accounts ahead of the PSR health-check deadline on June 30 before the real transfer action gets underway in July.
