NEWCASTLE United will be aiming for a Premier League title challenge if they get their transfer business absolutely spot on this summer.

That's the view of former Magpies forward Louis Saha, who believes the club have taken a “huge step” in their bid to establish themselves as one of the dominant players in the Premier League.

The Magpies went into the last couple of games of the campaign still in with a chance of finishing as runners-up ahead of Arsenal. That faint hope was dashed by defeat at the Emirates Stadium and United ended up scraping into fifth spot.

Liverpool comfortably claimed the title by 10 points, but Newcastle showed they can compete with Arne Slot's side, holding them to a 3-3 draw at St James’ Park and beating them in the Carabao Cup final.
