NORTHERN PREMIER LEAGUE

IT was a day of disappointment for the North East's Northern Premier League, Premier Division trio as they claimed just one point between them.

Only Stockton Town collected anything from their fixture, a goalless draw at Prescot Cables - although there was a negative for Michael Dunwell as new signing Amar Purewal was sent off with quarter of an hour remaining.

Goals from Jamie Walker and Connor Dixon goals condemned Morpeth Town to a 2-1 home defeat against Ilkeston Town as Cyril Giraud’s debut strike came too little, too late.

And former South Shields winger Dom McHale got the only goal as newly-promoted Hednesford Town earned a narrow win at Hebburn Town.

Hornets manager Daniel Moore felt his side were worthy of a draw against one of the promotion favourites.
