Lady luck smiles on Woltemade

NICK Woltemade says he does not care how the goals come - but admits there was an element of luck about his first goal for Germany in Belfast on Monday night.

Northern Ireland boss, and former Newcastle United striker Michael O'Neill, labelled Woltemade’s effort as “a freak goal”. But his recent record scoring goals in the air continued, meaning he was heading back to Tyneside in great fettle ahead of the trip to Brighton and Hove Albion at the weekend.

Speaking after his winner at Windsor Park, Woltemade said: “It’s actually fitting that I scored with my shoulder. It was not a good game, but you have to win them, too.
