NEW goalkeeper signing Melker Ellborg is eager to work with Robin Roefs and embrace Sunderland's demanding, hardworking culture.

The 22-year-old stopper, who put pen to paper on a long-term contract until summer 2030, has enjoyed a busy week settling into his new surroundings.

Arriving from Malmö FF for an undisclosed fee, the Swede met his teammates for the first time on Sunday before being welcomed by the Stadium of Light crowd ahead of Monday's 3-0 victory over Burnley.

Ellborg provides strong competition for Dutchman Robin Roefs, who has enjoyed an exceptional Premier League campaign to date.

He has kept eight clean sheets in his first 24 games - a record bettered by only four keepers in the division.
