'Groundbreaking' dementia services get new funding

The Alzheimer's Society runs the services which have helped 500 people across the two counties in the last year alone.

The County Durham service has now received new funding from Durham County Council which will enable its 13 staff to continue to offer advice, support and clinic referrals.

Hannah Johnson who manages the service said it was a “lifeline”.

She said: “This service is a lifeline. Without it, there would be no support available to people in County Durham following their diagnosis.
