Firms need a budget that backs jobs, investment and growth

THE date is set. On November 26, the Chancellor will deliver the Autumn Budget - and business will be watching closely.

Firms of every size are operating in tough conditions. Demand is weak, costs are up, and margins are tight. Global headwinds - from supply chain disruption to shifting trade rules - are adding further pressure. Resilience is strong, but it cannot carry the weight alone.

Business leaders are not asking for miracles. Firms in the North East and Tees Valley need a credible plan for tax, spending and borrowing, one that gives certainty for the year ahead. Certainty drives confidence, and confidence drives investment.
