Eddie still the best man by far for Magpies job

PERSPECTIVE in football can often be lost but Newcastle United have been offered some by two of their biggest rivals for the European places in the Premier League in the past week.

Eddie Howe has come under some intense scrutiny for the last month, and a lot of it has been justified.

But it has been my belief, and the belief of a lot of Newcastle fans, that he absolutely remains the best man for the job.

That is not the view of every fan this season, of course, but while some of the criticism on social media has been fierce, that hasn’t been mirrored on the terraces on match day where Howe's name has been routinely chanted by the Toon Army, both home and away.

And the fact Chelsea and Manchester United have both sacked their managers in the past week and Howe has immediately been linked with replacing them is a timely reminder of what an asset Newcastle currently have in their dugout.
