COUNTY Durham construction and demolition specialist MGL Group says it is well positioned for long-term growth and success after seeing sales and profits rise.

- COREENA FORD

The group, which was established in 2008, provides services such as civil engineering, asbestos removal and asphalt production.

It saw turnover creep up from £169.9m to £171.3m, while operating profit increased from £20.9m to £27m, saying that the results were driven by strong demand in the infrastructure and industrial sectors.

After seeing rapid growth in both turnover and margins in the last two years, however, the firm said levels will reduce in the following year, falling more in line with measured growth.

Bosses said investments across the business boosted capabilities and sustainability, with investments made to expand its plant and equipment.

New additions include GPS-enabled excavators, its first 36-tonne hybrid machine, a high-reach demolition excavator, and low-emission vehicles.
