Cats are living the dream right now

SUNDERLAND are already on target to reverse the trend of promoted teams being relegated in their first season in the Premier League.

- By CLIVE YOULTON

That in itself is not something Black Cats’ fans will have thought was possible.

The team has risen above the parapet in fine style to open up with a haul of points they could not have imagined following the Championship Play-Off final at Wembley.

No club in Premier League history has been relegated after collecting 11 points from their opening six games.

Whether that puts the pressure on or takes it off we shall see in the coming weeks, but those visiting supporters at the City Ground on Saturday were already chanting, ‘we are staying up’ after the final whistle.

The club and their fans are living the dream and rightly so after eight barren years outside the top division.

They are already believing what has been impossible for six clubs in the last two years is possible.
