A Tyneside brewery is paying tribute to the most prolific scorer of the Premier League era with a special edition can of its bestselling Shearer's Beer.

Yesterday marked 20 years since Alan Shearer made his final appearance for Newcastle United, having scored 260 Premier League goals - a feat still unrivalled to this day.

To mark the anniversary, Heaton-based Anarchy Brewery has released the Shearer's Foundation Brew 260 Special Edition can, with 50p from every can sold going to the Alan Shearer Centre in Newcastle.

The centre, run by St Cuthbert's Care and supported by the Alan Shearer Foundation, offers free use of sensory spaces and specialist leisure facilities to families living with complex disabilities.
