Boss: Heed must make sure they keep 'back door shut'

GATESHEAD manager Alun Armstrong won't allow his side to curb their attacking instincts - but did concede they need to find a more solid side to their defensive game.

The Heed have already conceded 14 goals in their six National League games and six of those have come in their last two fixtures as they edged a 4-3 win at Yeovil Town before sharing six goals in an entertaining draw with Aldershot Town on Saturday.

To their credit, Armstrong’s men have plundered their way to 11 goals in the league during the opening month of the campaign and will head into tonight’s home clash with Altrincham sat comfortably in the top half of the table.

The game will provide a severe test for the Heed as they look to build on what some would consider to be a surprisingly positive start to the season after the club experienced a challenging summer on and off the pitch.
