COMMUNITIES from across the North East came together in the 61st Northumbria in Bloom competition.
The competition aims to encourage local communities to improve their area through community gardening and sound environmental practices.
This year’s overall winner, announced on Wednesday, was Washington Village, taking the crown from Alnwick, which took the top prize in 2024.
The village has been described by judges as a “haven in the heart of the commuter belt’ also taking gold in the village category.
