Ballard out for Cup tie as he awaits scan results

SUNDERLAND defender Dan Ballard will discover the extent of his injury after undergoing a scan yesterday.
The centre-half pulled up with a groin injury during Saturday's Premier League defeat at Burnley and, while he will miss tonight's Carabao Cup tie at home to Huddersfield, it is hoped he is not out for any length of time.
"Ballard is having a scan today so we will know more," said assistant head coach Luciano Vulcano.
