Top record producer Trevor Horn looks back on Bowie, Seal and Frankie Goes To Hollywood as he is set to share his music stories on tour.

- By MARION MCMULLEN

Trevor earned him his first BRIT award as well as a visit from David Bowie.

Trevor says: “ Anne [Dudley] and I were working on the keyboards when we received a note asking if David Bowie could come and hang out at the session.

“I mean, I was a huge Bowie fan, of course, and so were ABC.

Sure enough, 15 minutes later, the door opened and David Bowie slipped in. It was the first time I'd ever met him and although I knew up front that his eyes were different colours, it struck me seeing him up close.

“He really did look like a visitor from another planet.”

Greater success was to follow when Trevor and his wife bought their own studio and co-founded record label, ZTT Records, which became the home of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. It changed his life.

Relax was released and heading to number one when Radio 1 DJ Mike Read “banned” it.
