£800,000 to tackle rural crime

NORTHUMBRIA Police and Crime Commissioner Susan Dungworth has welcomed an £800,000 national funding boost to tackle rural crime.

The money will be used to tackle a range of crime in remote areas by the National Rural Crime Unit (NRCU) and the National Wildlife Crime Unit.

The Home Office funding aims to enhance cross-force collaboration, bolster the use of technology and data, and improve the ability to target organised crime groups.

The PCC has created her Police and Crime Plan, which outlines her commitments to support Northumbria Police in developing innovative crime prevention tactics and cross-border intelligence sharing.
