Age no barrier for exercise
The Island
|June 10, 2025
In a society where youth is often equated with vitality and strength, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that exercise is only for the young.
-
However, emerging scientific evidence and countless real-life examples are proving that age is not a barrier to staying physically active. On the contrary, maintaining an active lifestyle becomes increasingly important as we grow older.
Regular physical activity offers a range of health benefits at every stage of life. For older adults, it helps in maintaining muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and cardiovascular health. It can also reduce the risk of chronic conditions, such as heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and depression. Perhaps, most significantly, exercise supports mental sharpness and emotional well-being, contributing to a higher quality of life and increased independence in later years.
