Scottish SPCA called out to thousands of Ayrshire incidents
Scottish SPCA investigators responded to almost 3,000 callouts in Ayrshire last year as the charity helped more than 200 pets find their forever homes in the region.
In total, 2,994 reports of animals in need were responded to by the charity across Ayrshire in 2024 while 231 pets were rehomed in the county.
East Ayrshire saw the most reports of animals in need at 1,068 and 84 pets were rehomed in the area.
In North Ayrshire, the Scottish SPCA responded to 935 callouts and 48 pets found their forever homes in the area.
South Ayrshire saw 991 reports of animals in need and 53 pets were rehomed in the area.
The charity revealed the statistics as it announced an expansion of its lifeline Pet Aid service.
Pet Aid aims to keep pets and people together by helping pet owners through the cost of living crisis which has left some faced with the choice of feeding themselves or feeding their pets.
