Q My husband, our two daughters and me live in London but are spending Christmas in the Lake District.

The best ways to travel from Lake District at Christmas?

Reaching Windermere on Christmas Eve by train doesn't seem to be a problem, but returning on 27 December certainly does due to engineering work. Can you suggest a way around it that doesn't involve rail-replacement buses? We hope to leave mid-morning.
