The son of Kingman was considered a potential Classic contender after winning two of his three juvenile starts, but his temperament got the better of him in the Champagne Stakes at Doncaster as he broke out of the stalls before the off and was unable to take part.

Having failed to get involved in either the Greenham at Newbury or the King Charles II Stakes at Newmarket on his first couple of outings as a three-year-old, Chancellor was gelded and underwent wind surgery and was not seen in competitive action again until reappearing over seven furlongs here four weeks ago.
