Church gets vital funds for repairs

£8,000 GRANT TOWARDS RESTORATION BILL OF AROUND £500,000

A HUDDERSFIELD church has been given an £8,000 grant to help pay for essential repairs.

St Patrick's Catholic Church on New North Road has received the money from the Yorkshire Historic Churches Trust towards external stonework repairs to the east elevation, the west parapet and other areas. A stone gable cross will also be reinstated at the east end of the church. Around £500,000 worth of repairs are needed in total.

Opened in 1832, St Patrick's was the first new church of the 19th-century Catholic revival in Huddersfield.
