Travellers to South West beaches warned as storm conditions on the way

TOURISTS heading for Devon and Cornwall's stunning coastline this week have been urged to take ‘extra care’ to stay safe.

The Coastguard is concerned about storms in the Atlantic, which are expected to cause huge waves over the next few days.

While that might sound like paradise for surfers, the dangers of the sea should not be underestimated.

Locals are used to navigating tide times and knowing when the waves are looking especially hostile, but holidaymakers might not be so familiar with the necessary safety precautions.

Several Coastguard crews in the area have shared a warning on social media in hope of spreading awareness, with three days in particular expected to be the most treacherous.
