A PLYMOUTH care provider collapsed into administration leaving debts of more than £500,000 including huge sums owed to staff. MBF Care Ltd, formerly known as the Michael Batt Foundation went belly up last month with about 20 workers made redundant after the company fell into financial difficulties.

- By WILLIAM TELFORD

Plymouth City Council had to find other care packages for more than 20 adults with special needs following MBF Care Ltd's closure. Now, documents filed at Companies House reveal the company, which provided in-home care to vulnerable adults with special needs, left debts of more than £588,000.

But it has two properties, in Pasley Street and St Georges Terrace, in Stoke, worth £205,000 and £150,000 respectively, and administrators expect to realise more than £365,500 in total. That will pay a huge tax bill of more than £138,000 and more than £12,000 owed to employees in unpaid holiday pay and pension contributions.
