DEVONPORT SERVICES defeated Exmouth 21-10 on the Rectory Field in a top-of-the-table South West One clash that failed to live up to expectations.

- By CONRAD SUTCLIFEE

Although points were in short supply before the break - Exmouth got there 10-7 up - Services did enough in the second half to win it.

And with chasers Topsham held to a draw at Lydney, Services ended the day better off by a couple of points than they had been in top spot.

Kieran Leach, Services team manager, said although it wasn’t a classic encounter, he could live with winning ugly.
