Raiders' unbeaten start ends in harsh loss to Gloucester

PLYMOUTH Raiders went into Sunday's crunch game against top of the table Gloucester Kings knowing that the winner would remain the only undefeated team in the division at this stage of the season.

Led by former Raiders coach Jay Marriott, Kings had failed to beat Raiders in the previous three meetings, so this match-up had all the makings of a classic.

The High School sports hall venue took some adjustment for a Raiders team who lead the league hands down in providing the kind of professional level facility that has become home to a huge fanbase that has become accustomed to powering their team over the line.

In Gloucester, however, with just a handful of spectators, neither team would have the fan noise advantage and the visiting Raiders team knew they would have to dig very deep to overcome the early league pacesetters in a talented Kings team, led by former Birmingham Rockets point guard Karl Teesdale, who caught the attention early on with his experience and hot hand from the three.
