JOB LOSSES AFTER FIRM HAD DEBTS OF OVER £15M
A HUGE investigation into how a Plymouth building company went bust with debts of more than £15m is expected to continue into next year.
A top law firm was brought in two years ago to probe the affairs of Henry W Pollard and Sons Ltd after a £4.9m black hole was found in its pension fund.
The company, based in Bridgwater and Plymouth, went into liquidation in 2021 with “pension-related” investigations now ongoing. Top lawyers from national law firm Weightmans, which has offices in eight cities and employs dozens of lawyers, were brought in two years ago to look into “pension-related misrepresentations in the company's financial statements” and have already been paid more than £19,000 plus VAT, with barristers involved too.
