ALMOST 600 drivers were caught not wearing seatbelts across Devon and Cornwall by a special camera system equipped with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It follows a trial hosted by the Devon and Cornwall Police which used cameras to identify seatbelt and mobile phone offences which took place towards the end of last year.
During the 15-day trial period, a total of 590 drivers were found to be not wearing seatbelts at various locations across Devon and Cornwall, including major routes like the A30 and A38. Additionally, the Aecom technology utilised led to the detection of 45 offences involving mobile phones.
