COOPER SWOOPS FOR YOUNG TOTTENHAM CENTRE BACK
NEW head coach Ian Foster has spoken of his delight at Plymouth Argyle's signing of 18-year-old Tottenham Hotspur defender Ashley Phillips on loan until the end of the season.
The 6ft 5in England under-19 captain becomes the Pilgrims' first recruit of the January transfer window, and already has had Championship experience. Phillips made five starts and three substitute appearances for Blackburn Rovers last season, after which Tottenham activated a clause in his contract to sign him for £2 million in August on a five-year deal.
He has yet to play at first team level for Spurs, but was an unused substitute earlier this season for their Premier League wins away to Burnley and at home to Liverpool and Fulham.
