MP demands action on guns

LUKE POLLARD MEETS POLICING MINISTER

AS the fourth anniversary of the horrific mass shooting in Keyham approaches, one of Plymouth’s MPs has met with the Policing Minister to push for action on shotguns.

Luke Pollard, MP, who represents Keyham as part of his constituency of Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, has long campaigned for the Conservative and Labour governments to implement the recommendations made by Plymouth’s coroner over the Keyham shootings.

In one of senior coroner Ian Arrow’s reports he suggested that had England and Wales had the same firearms regulations as Northern Ireland - under the Firearms (Northern Ireland) Order 2004 - which ensured more stringent safeguards and conditions, then the unlawful deaths of Davison’s mother Maxine, Lee Martyn, Sophie Martyn, Stephen Washington and Kate Shephed “may have been avoided”.
